Behind the Rohini's label are the expertise, tradition and entrepreneurial spirit of Arjay Gourmet Foods, Ltd. founder, Rohini, who launched the Rohini's line of condiments in 1998 as a way of combining four of her most avid interests: gardening, cooking, international cuisines and promoting the culture of her homeland, India.
By profession a retired senior research scientist with more than 17 years in food technology and product development at a Fortune 500 corporation, Rohini is by tradition a member of the culinary culture known the world over for its delightful assortments of aromatic, flavorful and piquant spices. A native of Jamshedpur (India's largest privately owned steel-producing city) and graduate of the University of Bombay in chemistry, she moved to the United States in 1964 as a graduate student, earning a master's degree in food science from Michigan State University and a doctorate in dairy technology from The Ohio State University.
For many years, Rohini's versions of tomato- and aubergine (eggplant)-based chutneys -- traditional recipes perfected by her knowledge of food science and her skill in food preservation -- were popular favorites at home and office parties, neighborhood gatherings and community events. These versatile condiments, and five additional flavors, are now available commercially for your enjoyment.
